Photographer Phil Toledano is obsessed with the idea of his own demise. He spends his days undergoing hours of prosthetic applications with the help of a special effects makeup artist, and photographing himself in every dark and scary depiction of his future, including obesity, desolation, stroke, isolation, suicide, and violent death. Meanwhile, his wife and daughter sit on the sidelines, worrying that this project will leave Phil unable to envision a positive future. Through a journey of unexpected turns and revelations, Phil's obsession changes him and his family forever.
